I'm thinking about picking up the 360's HD-DVD player this weekend from Walmart. If I find it's not that great to upgrade yet, I could always return it, and then I'd just be out the 20$ I had to spend on the HD-DVD movie to test it.

It's on sale for $169.99 at microcenter!

And .. I've also got this on preorder for May 22. Can't wait.

I love HD DVD, I can't stand to watch standard def DVDs anymore .. thats the only downside

I play them using my XBOX 360 HD DVD Addon outputted in 1080p.

Planet Earth looks amazing.

Ahh, just picked up the HD-DVD attachment for the 360. I must say, just from checking out King Kong, it was well worth the price. I bought the VGA cables for the 360 so it would upscale my existing DVD's. It does make them look better. I noticed it pretty good with the scene where the 3rd or so T-Rex is eating in the forest and sticks his head up when he hears the action.

Anywho, I'll have to throw up my opinions of other HD-DVD's once they arrive. I just put like 10 or so in my queue from my online dvd service. Overall, I'm happy with the performance increase. I had held off buying the HD-DVD player because I didn't think it would be that huge a deal since I don't have a 1080p tv (only 720p/1080i) ... well, it definitely does. I recommend the upgrade of HD (hd-dvd or blue-ray) for those that are wondering if it would make a noticeable difference like I was.
