Windows Media Center - Features?

Anyone connect their xbox with media center?

I just wondered what fancy features it has besides playing movies. Can you play DVD movies from your PC->Xbox that you have burnt onto your hard drive?

Can you save games to your PC's HD in place of the Xbox's HD?

I haven't tried using the Media Center Features since I don't have XP MCE

However I've softmodded my Xbox and I use the ftp features to back up all my games

hehe, that would be good stuff. I often thought about modding my regular xbox since I have the 360. I guess you can stick emulators on them and play old school nintendo / sega games, which would be kinda fun.

I was thinking yesterday how I want to set up my whole entertainment center. My tv has a vga input, which I was debating running into my laptop. I tend not to use the laptop much, so I was thinking about having that feed the TV movies from my desktop's bigger HD. The main problem with that is my only sound output is a headphone plug ... I'm not sure how good the sound quality would be if I bought a splitter and feed it into the receiver.

The 360 is already plugged into the receiver, so that's why I was thinking about using that to read movies from the PC's HD. I'll have to read more about MCE and the 360, and what all can be done with it. It's about time for the yearly wipe/reinstall to the ol' PC, so would be a good time to put MCE on it if it's worth it.

I'll look into that a bit tonight. I know it the 360 can read music files and pictures from my laptop's HD, haven't tried any movies yet. And for what I've done so far, XP Pro seems to work just fine with the console.

You can access just about anything on the hd as long as its the correct file type. I am not sure what kind of playback encoders the 360 uses tho.

It couldn't find any videos on the HD of my laptop. however, this certainly doesn't mean it can't be done, since ZA and the 360 don't seem to get along at times. Pictures and music work fine, so I'm going to say video can as well.

heck yea ... I think I'ma just soft mod the ol' xbox next weekend and just use that. Get some use out of it, and won't have to worry about the whole Windows MCE install.

Not a problem DL.TV is awesome show as well twice a week Tues/THurs live or you can DL the show the following day Wed/Fri. Robert Heron is a FREAKING HD Genuis And Patrick Norton is an old TechTV guy.

Awesome! I love DL.TV, in fact I download them to my MCE machine and watch them from there.
