Question I need help hooking up my 360 to HDTV.

The Sony TV is HDTV. I don't hook up my 360 to the back of the TV though, because the cords can't reach. I have the Onkyo HT-S680 receiver and surround sound, which is where everything is hooked up right now (comcast cable box, Xbox 360, DVD player). The premium Xbox came with these cables: the standard red, white, yellow, and red, blue, and green.

On the back of the reciever, I plugged in the yellow, red, and white cables in the input ports for "video 1", the setting I'm using now. I plugged in the blue, green, and red cables in the only other spots they would go in, but their port lables say "surround, front, and center". Shouldn't these be the video cables? They won't plug in anywhere else, because these are where the only green and blue ports are located. I switched the cable to HDTV, but when I do that I get a black screen but still hear sound.

If anyone has some sort of Onkyo receiver and is playing 360 with HD enabled, help a brotha out.

I just went downstairs to get a couple. You'll see them in a sec.

Not much of a photographer.

Ok, so it was actually video 2.

Well i have a PS3 and a HD-TvBOX both with an "hdmi" plug.

I connect both of the HD capable equipments to the HD television using the hdmi cable.

For the digital audio i actually connect the optical fiber directly to the Onkyo.

Xbox premium comes with no HDMI ? only colored RCA type cables ? Seems like no HD to me but i don't know much....

Only the 360 Elite has HDMI at this point.

Trama, from what I see, that receiver doesn't support component video. You should be able to play at standard definition with just the yellow, white and red group plugged in to the receiver. Your TV probably has the correct inputs on it though.

To add on to this, you should be able to hook up the video and audio to the TV, and then run a Audio out to the reciver

Alright here is the specs of your receiver. It doesn't have a check next to DVD component video out, so I'm gonna say it doesn't have it. You could play at SD through the receiver alone, or relocate the 360 and plug it into the TV for HD.

The red, green, and blue cables are component cables for high definition video. Like Speed said it doesn't look like your reciever supports component video so youy have to use the red, white, and yellow composite jacks.

RadioShack.com - Cables, Parts & Connectors: Connectors & connectivity: A/V connectors & adapters: NXG (NX-574) Component Video Coupler
This will allow you to add another section of component cables to the microsoft cable which would make it longer so it can connect to your tv so you can view it in high definition and you just keep the sound running into the recivier. Also when you get the component cables running into your tv there is a little switch on the cable to change it to HD. Good luck I hope that made sense.
