| | | Any reason to buy elite model? My nephew has been dying for a 360, so I've been debating either buying him the 20gig model, or just giving him my premium (non-hdmi) model and picking up one with hdmi. He doesn't have a HDTV, so no real reason to waste the opportunity to get the HDMI model for myself. hehe
I'm just thinking besides the whole HDMI appeal, is there really any reason to get the Elite? I know they are starting to put the HDMI port on the Premium edition as well. I imagine I wouldn't see much of a difference since my HDTV only does 720p/1080i and does not support full 1080p.
I'm thinking the whole Elite deal would be just for a bigger hard drive and the HDMI. I personally have no clue what the heck people put on the HD to fill them up. Once I'm done with a demo I just delete it. Oh, I guess they do offer overpriced movie downloads. I forgot about that.
I'm just sitting here debating it, so thought i'd post, hehe ... has anyone heard any news about when they are going to release a revamped version with less rings of death and fix the overheating problem or whatever they claim it was? |

Keep in mind that HDMI just isn't for video signal it also carries digital audio. So if you have a receiver with HDMI, you can pass that signal over it. Less cables the better... but its more than likely that won't matter to you either.
And .. I've had my Elite for around 3-4 months now, with no RROD *knock on wood*.

| | | ahh, good to hear it has had no problems. I haven't had any trouble with my premium model since my lights 'o death a few months back.
Yea, I hate all the cables going to my system now. I'm going to get around and pick up a better sound system here pretty soon. I just have a cheap 5.1 now. The speakers suffice, but the receiver has crap for inputs, so I'm currently using a component switch to handle my cable, 360, Wii and ps2. I'm thinking about using this opportunity to pass off my premium and get the HDMI version just so I can use one of the unused hdmi ports in my tv. hehe |

| | | I screwed myself. I have an Onkyo hdmi receiver but a premium 360. I should go out and buy the hdmi 360. The only reason I would buy the elite is because its black... its sort of ugly imo. It all really depends. Just give him your premium, buy yourself one with hdmi and maybe sometime later buy a 120gb hd for yourself. I dont really need one but it would be nice for you I guess.

| | | The benefit of HDMI is that it is pure digital. Component is still analog. If you have a really nice HDTV, but use regular component, you can sometimes notice flicker or noise in darker scenes due to interference. With HDMI, you will see a solid picture with no flickering. On top of that, it carries digital audio as well. I'd wait for the regular 360's to start carrying HDMI before buying an elite. The HDMI is a major benefit but not worth the added cost of the elite.
