360 HD-DVD Player

Does anybody have the HD-DVD Player for the 360. Any complaints? Good or Bad? Or should I just buy a HD-DVD player? Ive been reading some mixed reviews on it anywhere from it dosent work at all to it freezes to OMFGZORZ its the best. The 5 free HD-DVDs that come with it do look tempting.

No problems with mine. I do hear a loud whirring noise from time to time but no skips or pauses in play back. The only real knock compared to a real HD DVD player is that the 360 Add on doesn't do TrueHD sound I believe (thats of course if your receiver can except a TrueHD signal). But listening to the HD DVD 5.1 Dolby tracks still sounds very impressive compared to the 5.1 Dolby tracks on standard DVDs.

I love it -- I can't stand standard DVDs now. Go for it.

toshiba hd-a2 was going for 100 a few weeks ago, might still be able to find it at that price. a2 can upscale pretty well from what i understand

I dont own one but my boy does and he loves it, says it's the best thing ever. He wont watch regular DVD movies either.

If I was just now buying a HD-DVD player, I would probably get a stand alone player. They are down to around 200$. I haven't noticed anything bad about the quality of the HD-DVD player attachment for the 360. Sometimes it adds additional noise due to both being on, but once I throw on surround sound, I don't notice it. It is pretty good though, I recommend picking it up if you are not wanting to get a stand alone player.

Once I heard Transformers was going to hit HD, I decided to make the jump. Out of all the HD movies I've seen, I would have to rate the blu-ray Spidey the best. Man, they did a great job with the HD versions of those movies. Transformers is good as well, except they should have done a better job at cleaning up the film grain (or whatever it is)

I haven't seen too many movies in HD, but I watched Shooter at Burt's place and it was f@@king amazing.
