My Review Of The Halo Series Okay so I have finally beat all three games. Ya I know im a tad late, oh well.
So first thing if first out of all three which do I consider the best? None of them, they are all different. They each have there strong points and there weak points. Let get into detail.
Halo 1: I actually bought a xbox just to play this game. It was a great play through. Very addicting the first time through. Pistol is by far one of the best weapons in this game. From time to time I still enjoy going back to it. Only level I can say I couldn't stand was the Library. Talk about a bore feast. It was a game were hordes of enemy's were thrown in your way and you were told to lay waist to them.Enough of single player what about Multi? Well I got into the game sorta late, so I only got to enjoy a few system link games. I of course got my ass handed to me, but it was fun. Overall this game deserved game of the year, which it got.
Halo 2: My oh my what a let down. I got it for Christmas and didn't even play it for the first few weeks. Single player is fun, at first. Then it just gets weird, switching between people. I couldn't follow the story line at all. And at then end of the game I found myself just running past enemies wanting to get it over with. But this game isnt popular cause of single player, its the multi player that got me hooked. First time I played it on live I new I was addicted. Talk about wasting some time in my life haha. From pwning some nubs to getting owned. It was still fun. Map layouts were great. While most people didn't like cheating, it kept the game alive. You get cheated a game, are you gonna quit? Hell no you want revenge. The ranks were probably the bread & butter to this success, who doesn't want a pretty 40? Also one thing that made it fun was all the glitching that went on in a game, falling through maps, grenades not blowing up, bullets not registering, it made it exciting. Then came the error of professional players, and the people who tried to be like them. They called it MLG. Making a team, seeing how good you could become. Strategising maps, learning every nook and cranny, knowing when weapons would respawn. It made for an addicting experience, made you want to practice. With the coming of modding and heavier cheating, people just got tired of it and started to move on. The game slowly started to die out. But not to worry a new game was on the horizon...
Halo 3: A very anticipated game. Some say it was a huge let down, I must disagree. The camping felt nothing like the halo series, yet it was still familiar. Running through the jungle in the beginning felt life like. The new guns mixed with the old make it fresh. The levels were beautiful, enemy's challenging, teammates are no longer ammo holders. One of the funniest things in the game is the Mongoose, talk about a sweet ride. I found myself wanting to beat the campaign. The only thing wrong with the new single player is when Cortana over takes your mind during parts of the game. I dont think I have ever been so annoyed by something in a game. By the end I was wanting to kill her, not save her. Lets move on two what everyone was looking forward two, multi player. What can I say. Its sadly a let down, why? The levels are not as good as the ones in halo 2, which is why its not as fun. There isnt any more random glitching anymore. So there is no wonder, no getting angry, no feeling like you got lucky. Its who hits first is gona get the kill, you no longer have to worry about your shotgun sucking, the sword cant be used to do crazy stuff. While some players may like this, it leaves me, well bored. But its not horrible, it just different. There are tons of people playing this game. I still dont understand the ranks. But on a good note I have yet to be cheated. They have already came out with new maps which is promising, keep things fresh. They still have most of the old game types, with a few new thrown in. If your expecting to put in halo 3 and continue were you left on on h2, only with newer maps and better graphics; im sorry to say this inst how it is.
Those are my brief summary's of all three games. Without halo I wonder if there would even be a 360. Will there be a halo 4? who knows, I would like to see one. I still dont understand what the whole halo series is about, aliens vs humans? But if your like me you dont play it for the story, but for the run and gun fun. Well thats all for now, thanks for your time. |
