Since they're now only $49.99, should I buy one? People have gotten them working with pc's, and I figured I can pick up a few hddvd's on the cheap. Is it worth it?

Personally I would go with the Toshiba A20 off of Amazon, since its also an upconverting DVD ($69.95). Or just an internal drive for $100.
I'll pass, you will also need some sort of player software that will play hddvd there are only few that will. the blu-ray internal drives can be had for 130.00 to 150.00 some of the retail pkg's have player software although I'm sure some features are striped since they usually are.
i wouldn't bother, unless you can get the HD-DVD movies packaged with it, that's the only thing that makes it worth it. You can get 5-10 movies plus a player on Ebay for $100.
that questioning in your decision making process is the smart side of your powerbar brain, I would say unless you can get a ton of movies for cheap+player don't do it.
