He nailed it. What do they have to lose. The franchise is destroyed.

    Lol.

So.. it'll be either 'good' and something I may or may not watch only once or it'll be bad... and something I may or may not watch only once.

Looking forward to this one, too.

    Re: Movie Discussion

Yeah, seen the actual show in San Fran. Not... interested in that. :P

In other news though - watched Shazam! and BumbleBee:

Shazam! - was a very pleasant surprise and I rather enjoyed it. It was fun, had a decent story and... lots of properly good humor (mixed with all the drama). Not quite sure - but outside of the Batman movies (which are on a completely different level/theme imho)... this... miiiigght be my favorite DC Comics movie. I was left with a "that was fun" smile on my face when it was over. Not bad This to me is when DC doesn't try so dang hard and just makes a proper movie (rather than trying to copy Marvel).

BumbleBee - I enjoyed it as well. Though, sure, I found most of the movies enjoyable and such (good brainless popcorn flicks - with some that had "what?" moments of "that's just stupid" (like the whole college scene). Anywho - this was a pretty cool movie for a type of... origins story? I'm a bit baffled at the ending (with the main character) - though I'm assuming that's to not... well... do something that could very much cause issues for the first movies (lol). And there's some big plot holes (and some other odd character decisions)... But it certainly hit the nostalgia button. It was certainly 'cheaper' than the other movies, but in that aspect of things it also didn't feel like they were trying to make things more epic with every movie (which is a good thing). Anywho. Happy that those rentals provided good entertainment lol.

    Re: Movie Discussion

So, watched Alita: Battle Angel - wasn't sure what to expect as I enjoyed the manga and the anime (though it's been... 20 years ?!) and ended up finding out that this is probably the best live action Anime remake I've seen. Not only that - it was a pretty good futuristic sci-fi film in general (so if you've never read the manga series or watched the original Anime - that's fine). But wow. Makes me wonder what Ghost in the Shell would have been like if they.. I dunno. had better people attached to it and an additional $60M? Though since it appears that Akira is even 'bigger' I'm a bit excited to see what will come of that...!

Anyways - the movie. Wasn't confusing, easy to follow, interesting plot - sure, has it's goofiness and all - and pleasantly surprised at the PG-13 rating (as the original material isn't.. well, kid friendly?) but they manage (I suppose since a good chunk of stuff is robots/cyborgs etc.) to keep in a good a good deal of the gore (or allude to) - Oh, and they managed to bring in some rather iconic scenes from the Anime. AND it was fun to watch. AND makes me want a sequel. Which is a bit different from the other live-actions that are... well.. 'meh'

Worthy rental for sure... but this one might actually end up on the shelf - That was a nice surprise.
