| | | I asked about your Caddi in that thread Denny - is it yours?
-- Lol, thanks Vega. From what I hear the normal turn-around time for somebody working in any help-desk is about two years. I guess that means I have less than a year left. The job is really easy, but OMG... it's amazing what kinda thoughts I get on this job - and i'm totally not like that. I totally understand people that just don't know computers - ive been helping my family and my wife and her family with computers for a long time now - it's like riding a bike I guess - if you've never been on one, good luck teaching yourself - just hard to grasp the simplest concepts.
But HERE. at a frickin' "Learning Institution" you'd think after telling somebody how to do something 2-3 times, they might LEARN how to do it themselves.... but noooooooo! It's like after they get done talking to me they start inhaling Glade air-fresheners or eating paint-chips. I don't know how these people got their degree... or even the job for that matter. *slaps face* I get irritated now every time I hear people asking where the reset button is on their CPU, or thinking that the power button on their monitor turns the computer on... or the other way around... Or people telling me when something doesn't work when I know dang sure that it does - I try to explain it to them, they defend themselves adamantly that it doesn't, how they know what they're talking about (and how their PhD in Geology somehow makes them knowledgeable about all things computers/networking), then I show them it works... and all they can say is, "....oh..." and then try to explain themselves, "well it wasn't working a moment ago" - yeh sure arrogant n00b.
*takes a breath* - wheu, okay...vented today.
Thanks for that Vega! ;D

: 114 th | | We shouldn't get upset with people who don't know computers, they just want to learn. Let's just help them until they understand it. They aren't intentionally being uninformed, and an IT help desk should be very patient and understanding.

'04 Cadillac CTS 5-speed manual transmission, black/black. Fun car. Really rips through the twisties and tops out over 145. Not bad for an old man's car. eh?
