| | | George Lucas is mean Not content with all his millions, George Lucas is suing the Stormtrooper costume designer for reproducing costumes and selling them.
Now, you and I both know that dude shouldn't be selling these costumes without an agreement, but damn, George!!! Star Wars Costume Copyfight Spreads to England | The Underwire from Wired.com

| | | Its obviously something sought after. Rather than sue the guy, I would hire him, and start something.
Not that Lucas needs the money...

| | I don't think that's much of a capitalist attitude there Coffee.
I don't blame him on this at all. I have to give him props for allowing and even supporting different Star Wars mods to games |

| | | I know, that's why I said dude shouldn't be doing it. It just seems a bit like overkill, but Lucas has to protect his property.
I would think he could just take 50% and call it good.

| They must not have a license or perhaps it expired and lucas wanted more money?

| | | Yeah....
I can understand where both sides come from.
It reminds me of something that's been unfolding at my restaurant over the last week:
An old chef that used to work for my boss for well over 10 years, who had a pretty big hand in creating or improving over 3/4 of our menu, opened his own restaurant last week on the opposite side of town.
Well, a lot of our customers live on that side of town, so a close sushi bar/chinese restaurant was a popular idea -- too bad most of those people used to be regulars at OUR restaurant, because it turns out that they came back complaining that the entire menu was exactly the same as ours.
So, being the crazy-litigious/greedy lady she is, my boss sent several of her lawyers (including one that specializes in patents) to the restaurant. Lo and behold, about 90% of their menu was made of the exact same ingredients. Not only that, most of them even had the exact same name. Needless to say, she snagged several to-go menus which looked strikingly similar to ours, and she even stopped by herself and picked up a couple to-go entrees -- which, you guessed it, tasted exactly the same as what's offered at our restaurant.
What kinda tards would actually "steal" (loosely used, because just as in the star wars guys case this guy had a lot to do with the food's creation) a whole menu? The restaurant opened last thursday. It's now Tuesday morning and I guarantee they're shut down.

| | | actually this is a really old case. i remember them talking about litigations over this a couple years ago. the issue was whether or not the maker of the pieces had artistic privilege/ownership of his work, or if it was copyrighted by lucas.
