| | | My new car- Deal or Junk? I just purchased a 2002 Ford (i don't even like Ford) Escort ZX2. It has every option possible almost, 6 CD changer, leather, sunroof, spoiler, cruise, power everything, 5 speed manual 101,000miles.
Blue book rates - Fair $3785
- Good $4385
- Excellent $ 4835
Paid- $2500
More repairs needed than expected, but i still find cars like this going for 3500-5000 on ebay...
What do you all think?
(I'll post pic's soon, and repair costs, still getting worked on)

| | | if it runs okay, $2500 seems like a deal. Depends how much the repairs cost you.

: 12 th | | well if you really check eBay or craigslist for what selling right now, cars especially, the price for Everything is down below kelly blue book puts things because of the economy. so getting your car for that price really is just what the market will bare right now. also, if it needs more repairs than expected, then it's probably in the "no so" great of a deal area. there's a lot of great deals to be had right now for vehicles, so if need be, sell what you just bought, and grab another one with less miles and less repairs lol
congrats on the purchase though!
cheers, zmo |

| | | Not bad Holds about 13 gallons of gas Dont have that much horse power though your looking at about 130 max and about 125 lbs of torque. It gets good fuel economy, My friend just got one and his is a stick and his clutch slips pretty bad on the thing |

| I don't like used cars. Is this car for daily use or track?
If it is for daily use, becareful with the trany. 101,000miles means a lot of gear shifting has gone on in that car.
just looking out brosif

| | | The car should last as long as it's been maintained. And as far as the transaxle, it all depends on whether it's highway or city driving. And even if it is city, it's just clutch wear. That transmission is fairly tough. Be sure to carefully check the springs. They're known to break. If they do, replace the struts at the same time. At that mileage, it's time to change the timing belt. In fact, it's time for them to be changed the 2nd time. That's probably the most important preventative maintenance on that engine. If it snaps, the engine is likely toast. Keep an eye on the brake lines if there's road salt used where you live. They tend to rot out. Easy to fix, but you want to do it before they blow apart at highway speeds.
Sounds like you got a really good price. Enjoy!

| | Congrats. I've been a Ford man all my life (I have owned one GM and one Chrysler that were both GREAT cars though). I have never had any problems with my Fords.
