Surviving Alien Invasion!

Well, I'm interested to know what you guys would suggest the government (or people) should do in the invent we are ever attacked by a space-faring race.

Nukes (we've see ID4)? Biological weapons? Would you see suicide bombing going on everywhere if there was a ground invasion? Many scientists agree that our atmosphere and natural resources would be tantalizing treats to invaders, and they probably would stick to ground assaults instead of poisoning the surface with radiation or germs. this opens up all kinds of fun (I think) problems. Would our economy totally collapse? Would it be every single person for themselves, or would we take to the underground and continue production of things like ballbearings, CPUs, oil, and weapons?

What do you think we should do?

the laws of physics apply to aliens, too.

that is, when they get to Texas, they will all be gunned down by 95 year old grannies with shotguns.

In reality, Aliens will know this, and stick to Europe.

I think that if Aliens did come to earth to attack they would have already studied how we work and what we need to organize our military effectively. That means they first take out our government, norad, most military installations, and all of our satellites in orbit simultaneously, effectively crippling us. Operation Shock and Awe times a thousand. It would then fall on the shoulders of small pockets of resistance fighting them using guerrilla and perhaps slash and burn tactics.

aliens would think our cars were the real life form down here. Us humans would seem like the slaves that take care of them day and night. Cars would be targeted while we escaped to coffee's bunker to watch VHS tapes of What's Happening and Who's The Boss for all of eternity.

just because they would be advanced technologically doesn't mean they'd be able to readily understand our processes or methods. case in point, a mantaray can easily kill a person, so can a tiny spider. There could possibly be sufficient time to mount a defense. And craig, you're probably not far off with that.

We'd have a bunch of things to our advantage. A PLANET. numbers. billions - compared to hundreds of thousands at best, or a few million in ships.. space is at a premium. Perhaps a large number of automatons, but those can be outsmarted.

We also know our land and how to use it to our advantage. I think we'd make out pretty well in the short run

Well, 100 megatons detonated at once is enough to destroy all life on earth, so if worse comes to worse I say if we can't have earth no one can.
