D&D Co-Creator Gary Gygax has Died

Sad new for the D&D fans among us.

Gary Gygax died Tuesday morning at his home in Lake Geneva, Wis. His wife Gail says the 69-year-old had been suffering from health problems for several years.
Gygax and Dave Arneson developed Dungeons & Dragons in 1974 using medieval characters and mythical creatures. The game known for its oddly shaped dice eventually was turned into video games, books and movies.
It's considered the grandfather of fantasy role-playing games and has inspired legions of adoring fans. Gygax's wife says he always enjoyed hearing from them.

RIP...that guy is responsible for all kinds of uber games. So many themes were taken from D&D

Agreed, Craig. Not only RPG, but also persistent characters that we enjoy in games today can be traced back to D&D.

I heard a report about him today on NPR news and an interview with a longtime friend. Gygax would have lots of fans visit his home and unless he was not feeling well (he had a number of health problems) he would always play a game with them and feed them. Whether it was D&D, Monopoly, or checkers, he loved playing games almost as much as he loved people.

Truly a man of his fans. Rest peacefully, Mr. Gygax.

The man truly left an indelible mark on gaming. I certainly hope he's DM'ing in the afterlife. R.I.P.

big props to this guy I am only 20, 21 in a couple of months

but i have a lot of experiences in the gaming world and as it was stated above this guy is responsible for a slew of games and deserves the credit....thanks gary for the fun times and memories you brought to the gaming world....
