Microsoft Loves facebook

I've never been on facebook. I assume it's at facebook.com or something. Evidently, I'm the only one. facebook is now valued at $15 billion.

Now Microsoft, already a partner with facebook in advertising, is dropping $240mil on them to get an equity stake, presumed mostly to fend off Google from gobbling up this advertising cash cow and keep a foot in the Social Web 2.0 waters.

What's it mean? It seems to be a big deal, but it's a drop in the bucket to these companies, so I think Google probably has bigger fish to fry. And with Microsoft pushing their Live Spaces sites, who knows where it will lead in the future.

Great piece in the current Wired about Facebook. The cat that created it turned down $1.5 Billion from Yahoo for it. I'm not too hip to what it's all about so I joined to see what all the fuss is about. Not my bag, but I can see if you're into something like that how neat it could be...and anything that is the anti-MySpace is bound to do good things

however, now with the 50 bazillion applications on everyone's profile, I dunno if I like either that much.

I can't even guesstimate how many times a zombie or vampire has invited me to be bitten...

agreed... facebook > Myspace Lol.... and coffe think twice about that offer

But yea ... I think they were wise in not selling themselves to yahoo... they made alot more profit in the long run

Same here, I have a facebook account (Jewtino made me get it) and I liked it for a little while. Now though, is a different story. There's so many applications that it's almost as bad as a myspace. Get's on my nerves so I dont even check it anymore.
