GoldenEye for XBLA Canned?

Apparently the game was to feature "updated graphics, and of course an all-new Xbox Live multiplayer" mode. It was also tipped that the game would launch around Activision's first 007 offering.

The latest issue of US mag EGM (via 1up) stokes the rumour mill's burning core with word that the port was in development at Rare for several months. But it was binned after a fight broke out between Microsoft and Nintendo over the one thing that makes the world go round, no not love - money!

Blasted! I would have loved to have played that game again, even if it were on the xbox 360 but I guess I won't be able to enjoy that experience now. I remember playing GoldenEye with DNvCross waaaaay back when. Me and his brother vs. him... he usually won; he's a true gamer at heart.

strange as it sounds coming from a big nerd like me, I never played Goldeneye. But I'm told it was pretty pimp and that this was going to be sweet.

another one bites the dust...

I still have it for my N64. Rare was very godly at making FPS games, but there problem is that they take wayyy too long. Goldeneye is what triggered my FPS addiction. Doom was OK, but I played it on my 1970 Macintosh computer LOL. It was installed via floppy. I think I was like 7 years old when playing that game. No sound ftl =/

You can still play Goldeneye if you'd like, just get a emulator and the ROM and you're set.

I just wish Rare would've made the next goldeneyes.. when they made Perfect Dark, that game was just ahead of it's time.
