AMD "Turion Ultra" releasing June 3rd

With Computex rolling around, we should see lots of news on the horizon.

And with Intel pushing back the release of Centrino2, AMD might finally have the spotlights to itself (hopefully this is a good thing).

The "Ultra" in the Turion line (that's AMD's mobile processors) is the Griffin processor, part of it's new "Puma" platform (you can equate Puma with Centrino).

Let's just hope that AMD actually ships on time, and that the processors don't have some horrendous problem. Not that it ever happened before...

So performance-wise, Puma equates to Intel's older Santa Rosa platform, not Centrino 2?

I'm going to need to get a laptop before Centrino 2 is released, can't wait around for it unfortunately. AMD looks like it could be a strong option.

No, I meant equate Puma as being a platform like Centrino, not a Processor like Griffin. Not equating performance.

Lots of people thought "Centrino" was the processor, not the platform.

Ah, I see. Well, hopefully these are available earlier in the summer. A lot of students are going to be looking to get the newest thing out there, so AMD really has a chance to shine. They better get it right...
