Maybe it's a smart move for Seagate to wait until prices came down on SSD (solid state storage, you know, flash-type memory) drives. Maybe it wasn't.
But they're going there now.

I think it was probably a smart idea. No one is owning the SSD space yet, and when consumers start getting 60gb+ SSDs at reasonable prices, they're going to look for the names they've used for hard drives in the past.
