| | | Nvidia takes on Intel's Atom with new processor Nvidia has created a portable processor "Tegra" that goes heavy on graphics. For a phone or video player (like the iPhone), this means tons of power for 3d graphical interfaces. Quote: |

(1080p video encoding/decoding was also possible, but at only 24 FPS.)
| double sick.
This is the kind of processor we want in our portable devices - not just PMPs, but even the subnotebooks, with the poor built-in graphics, drop in one of these as a dedicated GPU, only 2watts of power, still able to play HD movies and quake3 at decent rates? omglicious. Quote: |

In the near-term, nothing Atom-based will be able to come close to Tegra in terms of a combination of 3D performance, battery life, and form factor. Not until Atom's SoC successor, Moorestown, will Intel be in the same ballpark here.

| | the intel atom is supposedly ridiculously cheap - Atom: Intel Sets Low Price for its Atom CPU - around $44 or so...if nvidia wants to compete it'll have to price it's chips accordingly...another factor is that unlike the desktop pc market, there is A LOT of competition in the mobile arena...ARM, VIA, Intel and NVIDIA all produce products that have been shown to work very well, so this should be a good thing for consumers in the next couple of years...

| Looks to be about the same size as the iPhone, and most PDAs.

| | | This is great new in moving forward with mobile GPU's. This and Android should kick ass but we just gotta wait and see how much they give it to us for. |
