and ya, this is aimed right at the Air crowd. kudos to Voodoo for jumping in the pool with Apple. you know HP would love to steal a few sales from APPL

it looks like a well done alternative for sure. Maybe HP will put their advertising dollars behind it, but I doubt it.

that thing looks bad ass. the only thing I dont like is how big the power brick is and the fact that they're running Vista on it. otherwise, the $2099 pricepoint is stellar for a Voodoo and what the machine is. He mentions at the end of the video that if this were pre-acquisition the laptop would be $5000 but that being HP helps them keep costs down.

GMA x3100 is completely useless though. I would have rather seen a 8400gs/2400 mobile chip.

yeah, but even those would require a small active cooling fan, wouldn't they? increases weight.

They should be passively cooled.

But you then couldn't play anything intense on it, cause it would heat up an 8400 like a mofo, so why bother with anything more than integrated?

I always like better graphics solutions, but this was definitely meant for portability.

for this class of notebook (13.3" or less, small and lightweight), while the 8400 does provide more power than integrated, it's not anything substantial and is more of a detriment than a plus...it adds weight and heat, while subtracting battery life and design (cooling), to put it simply, it's not worth it...
