The End of an Era! Bill Gates Final Day at Microsoft

That's right, the big man Bill Gates is retiring.

While the modern tech industry loses one of its pioneers I am glad that Bill will not simply disappear, but has decided to make room for new talent to evolve and dedicate his wealth and influence to his charity.
Various sites have other writeups about what he has accomplished. Engadget has a few contests for MS powered gadgets (Office 2k7 Ultimate/Mp3 player so far). TGDaily has an opinion article, and a Best and worst article.

I almost feel sad. Seriously, is it just me or is the internet suddenly warming to Bill now that he's leaving? There's like ten front page stories across the web daily about his contributions, his legacy, how hard he pushed the industry, ect.

Yeah, they never looked at anything he did positively until he retires. They did, at least, get it right that we wouldn't have gone this far without the de facto Windows standard for people to work with early on.
