Toshiba Unleashes New Laptops for Gaming

Quote:
Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced the new Qosmio(R) F55 laptop series, a 15.4-inch powerhouse that leverages both the Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo CPU and NVIDIA(R) GPUs with built-in GPS(1) to provide an unsurpassed performance in terms of multimedia, gaming and mobile convenience.

A unique feature on the Qosmio F55 laptop series is its GPS system powered by Garmin(R). Freeing users from the need of an Internet connection, the built-in GPS system allows users to determine their exact location within moments, as well as search for directions to millions of locations.

Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced that the Qosmio(R) X305-Q701 gaming laptop is available exclusively at Best Buy stores nationwide for an affordable price of $1,549.99(1).

Engulfed in Toshiba's new "fiery" Fusion(TM) finish with Rogue design, the Qosmio X305 laptop allows gamers to play graphic-hungry games at their optimum settings for a crisp, stunning and immersive gaming experience. It harnesses the powerful NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) 9700M GTS graphic(2) processing unit (GPU), which is powerful enough to produce lifelike and razor-sharp details with amazing speed and efficiency. Additionally, the Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo P7350(3) processor allows gamers to harness the power and performance of a DirectX(R) 10 desktop gaming laptop PC in a mobile form factor while providing first-rate system performance and responsiveness so gamers can attack today's hottest games head-on.

Sorry for the long news post (omitted some specs), I didn't want to make it two individuals ones though. I think the GPS laptop is really awesome and has so many possibilities for social networking with a built-in-gps. On the other hand, I think it's a stupid and bad business decision (at least for toshiba) to offer their gaming rig exclusive rights to one store, Best Buy, who isn't really known for gaming parts as Craig has mentioned before.

I really don't know what these companies are thinking... or where they get their design ideas for that fact. The specs aren't terrible, but the look of that laptop is ridiculous. Hire someone young to do your design work, or at least use a focus group of gamers/enthusiasts... that thing looks like its for my mother's knitting club!

I don't like the all glossy finish that Toshiba/Qosmio is going with on all their newest models. Glossy keyboard? Come on... I don't care how tough they say it is, besides being a magnet for fingerprints, it's bound to show it's age much quicker than any other material.

qosmio is a horrible name. ignore that all "q" words should start with "qu" so it can be pronounced. hell, KOSMIO or COSMIO would have been better.
