Microsoft Sidewinder goes official

This one popped up in the rumor mill a few months ago, but is now official - at $79 for the keyboard, $59 for the sidewinder mouse that you've seen:

Odd features like a right/left attachable numpad, but which also acts as a fully programmable macro pad in gaming mode (which is kinda the whole point to being able to attach it on either side). Backlighting, of course, custom profiles, continuing key press, in game macro recording, and of course, a lighted D key! (okay, it's all the WASD, but whatever).

A quick launch to Vista's Games Explorer will be used by almost no one.

i actually like the removable num pad. it comes in real handy when you're crunching numbers, but can also be used as a remote game controller in your left hand.

the kaypad is not as game-specific as the Belkin n52, but it serves the same purpose, and has dual use.

One question: Does the numpad work when its detached? or no

good question. pictures make it look like there's a data/power connector, so I would guess not.

It would surely need to be wireless if it were.
