: 78 th | | | Gizmodo: The Shocking Story Of The XBox360's RROD Quote:
Dean Takahashi, one of the most respected tech journos around, spent years putting together this mind-blowing expose that reveals the truly epic scale of the problems that lead to millions of dead Xbox 360s. It really is one of the most stunning flustercucks in gaming history. According to his account, Microsoft willfully ignored deep, systemic problems in the console's production that reached from chipmakers—initially, only 16 out of every 100 of its IBM-made processors worked—to production lines, where just before launch, an unbelievable 68 percent of consoles made were clunkers."Microsoft had more than 500,000 defective consoles that sat in warehouses. They were either duds coming out of the factory or they were returned boxes, according to inside sources. The yield was climbing, but far too slowly. The company stood by its statement that returns were within “normal rates for consumer electronics products.” | Holy shitballs batman... read this story! Link to story |

| | | Just goes to show you how scared they were at market domination by sony and nofriendo. That's what I secretly love about microsoft, they have enough resources to bullshit and bulldoze their way to any ends, they really are the bully of the playground

| | It says a lot about the dedication of gamers that most have stuck it out and repaired and even replaced their 360's rather than jumping ship to another platform.
Dean Takahashi's story that is referenced in the article seems to suggest that the microsoft has maybe finally fixed the problem. Thats good since I might be in the market for one someday.

| | | Argh, this makes it even harder to decide...I'm not sure if i want to get a PS3 or a 360 with my new TV. A couple of friends have 360+live, but PS3 has blu-ray. Any thoughts?

| I don't even know. I'd be absolutely pissed if Sony had a story like this behind the PS3. Not pissed enough to return it, but maybe pissed enough to write a letter. Actually, no, maybe just an e-mail.
