Video Game Evolution: 1990 To Present Day

Remembering the good all days, when me and my friends were playing Doom, Mortal Kombat, Quake or War Craft on a Pentium 133 MHz computer with Sound Blaster and a 4MB video card. A lot has changed since then.

From design and graphics point of view, video games greatly evolved and continue to do so. Writing about 90s computer games in 2008 is somewhat nostalgic and in the same time it’s funny, because what can you expect from a 16 bit graphic display and a 100 MHz machine, but remembering that in those days these configs were king just as 3,6 GHz and Nvidia GeForce 9400 nowdays.

That was a cool look back. Of all the older games, I think RTCW was the best. I am surprised there were none of the Myst games mentioned... I think the first was some kind of best seller...

I had an old Packard Bell 286, I think it was 12Mhz. I bought Wing Commander, but it wouldn’t run it correcly. Hmmm, I think I may still have that game.

Lot of great games in there.

They forgot to mention Fallout 1 & 2 and Dark Forces 1 & 2. Well actually they left a ton of great games out.

Also the GBA wasn't the first console to have built in Wi-Fi. That would be the DS. The GBA had a wireless attachment, but thats about it.

EDIT: And the PSP was introduced in late 04, not 03.

Pretty good list but I don't think the whole Halo series deserves to be there. Halo has a reserved seat but 3?! That was the sh!ttiest one... Also what happened to Ocarina of Time? A lot that should be there.

I don't really think this article was much more than a collection of screenshots (not even by the poster) and a few random (and even incorrect) points thrown in. IMO I could throw together something like this with my own pictures from most of the games, and write something better to go along with it.
