| | | Do you know your conection speed ? if your maxing it out there is not much you can do. Your router could be acting up but I think that would be kinda rare. |

| | | Not everybody at IBM knows their stuff. I mean there are accountants, secretaries, ceo, cto's, programers, designers... Hell I have a friend that works at Nortel and he can't configure a router if his life depended on it.

| | moved by a supermod. can the Off Topic mods stop Off-Topic'ing and start ON-Topic'ing for 25 seconds?
anybody who can help jmix about ROUTERS and not so much about his health would be greatly appreciated. Most people can simply type the router's standard address in the URL tab 192.168.1.1, type "admin" as the password when prompted and get a bevy of router solutions in a tabbed format. some are very user friendly but many of the tabbed services are for network geeks that know the domains.
I don't fiddle with mine for fear of the internet gods taking away my internet, but polarcloud created an awesome firmware update to the Linksys WRT54G/GL/GS a year ago called Tomato that added a bandwidth monitor, extra restrictions and a wireless client mode tab for multiple users, so you should check to see what your router can do for you. and update the firware is also a great idea for a more stable router with possible increased performance.

| | | Source can bog down a slow connection, but I can run 2 Source clients and 2 laptops on the internet on a 1.5mb line without much problem, so unless you're running on a low-speed DSL, there is another problem.
We could use more info on your setup.

| | | Dumb question #1: Does JMixx know whwere to find his thread now that it's moved?
Dumb question #2: If so... is the gaming computer wired in or sharing wireless with the dad's notebook? If it's sharing wireless, try hooking up a network cable to the router directly.
