Honestly, I don't have a place for Linux. I stick to Windows for gaming because you just can't beat the support. I use OS X for a desktop. It has the power of UNIX and a very usable, efficient interface. FreeBSD is my choice for servers. So Linux is great for development and experimenting. It's a great OS to learn on. It just really doesn't have a place any more.
Just dual boot it and use it once a week just to mess around. You'll find that you're going to end up spending almost all your time in Windows just to play games.
