8800 idle and load temps?

OK, whichever series you have, let's see what your temps are when idle and when at full load. I was kind of worried thinking my temps were too high. I'm OC'ed, have fans on full blast and I idle at around 44C, and full load CSS @ 60C, and 3DMARK @ 62-65C

I've been reading up, and people run this card on stock cooling (like me) @ ridiculous temps. Some idle @ 80C!!! Others @ 90C... WTF.. and people are telling them that this is normal.. I get crazy when I see it go above 60.. LOL

I guess my Antec 900 with 1 extra 120mm fan facing the card is doing an alright job at keeping my card cool.

Hunt3r, Dopefish, Dominiking, Vince, and whoever is running any 8 series Nvidia card.. what temps are you guys getting at idle and full load? I'm also assuming you have the stock cooler.

Even here they get ridiculous temps..
GeForce 8800 GTS & GTX review

I suppose they are testing this with an elite system..

I wouldn't worry about the temps you get. Unless you're hitting 90 or so there really isnt much to worry about. I idle in the mid 50s and get 70 or so underload.

The "alert threshold" is default of 127C. I'd say 90C is acceptable. Without forcing your fan to a certain speed, the choices the BIOS of the card makes on setting the speed is really... slow. I accidentally went to sleep with a game running and without forcing the fan speed. When I woke up the following morning (probably about 8 hours later), the fan speed was at 73% and the GPU was at 93C. The game was still running perfectly, no slowdown or artifacting. If I force the fan speed to 100%, the card will idle around 56C and under load at about 68C. My card has a ball-bearing fan so I'm not really worried about the fan going bad. By the time the fan goes bad, I'll already have a 8800GT or something better to replace it with.

My card is really not a good card to compare as I have a separate ac unit for my pc's ..... but anyway, I idle around 36c and load during 3dmark06 is 48-52c.

GPU's get much hotter than cpu's when pushed so I would not sweat it too much ..... besides that you are crazy if you did not buy one with a lifetime warranty.

PS: DominiKing, that program is called RivaTuner look for v2.06 beta

So by the looks of it, it seems dependent on the air flow of your case.

I dont know then, it seems that the rumor is true cause my 8800GT runs real hot. Usually around 60-73 C. I dont want to put the fan up to 100% but i do want to OC it. I've been messing with RivaTuner (thanks Hunter) but havent gotten the full hang of it yet. I dont know if i can put a fan on my PC to help keep it cool or where to put it. Anyone have an idea?

In RivaTuner, click customize by where it says 256-bit G80 512MB and click Low level settings. Click enable low level fan control and move the slider up and click apply. It might ask you to reboot before changing anything, it wants a true reading of what your fan speeds are. You can if you want to, but it's not necessary. I have mine at 99% full speed

You can also set it so that every time you boot up it will automatically set it to the same fan speed you choose.
