Custom Computer.
Alright people of sR!
It is I, Caplax, some of you know me, others do not, obviously.
I am currently looking to build my own PC for gaming and school work and I need help, since I am computer illiterate. So if anybody could help me out by telling me what you would put in a great gaming computer from scratch, it would be greatly apprecated.
Also I do have a budget, sadly enough to say, of $900.
If any of you come up with a custom computer for me with all the bells and whistles, I will love you forever.
Just names of products and prices.
I know I sound increadably whiny, but I'm in dire need of a new computer. The one thats sitting in my kitchen for my family to use is slower then AOL when it first started. Its a wonder how I can play CS:S on it.

With or with out monitor?
I'm slammed next day or so but will post a cfg. when I can if your talking w/o monitor you can put together a good rig for 9 big ones

I've already got a monitor, a 22" plasma widescreen from ACER. Can you say Ballin?
Oh and I am going out of town this weekend for the NCAA Lacrosse championships, so if I don't respond withen a few days, sorry, I'll get on whenever I can.

As far as the budget, $900... is that the max you have to spend? Do you have any parts from an older system you can reuse? What about an OS? What's your preference, XP or Vista?

video card wise i'd reccomend going on NewEgg and looking for an Nvidia GeForce 8 or 9 Series card, so you can have Direct X 10 games and stuff. It'll make all the new games, if you're planning on buying them, look very good.

I currently run XP, vista looks like crap compaired to XP, as for reusable parts, my father has a bunch of stuff that can be reused, but are aboutr as old as the creation of the computer.
