Need some help!

Hey guys, haven't been here in months, but I want to revisit a problem that I forgot about a while ago (likely because I couldn't figure it out). When I place my computer in standby mode, when I turn it on, I find my cpu temp is high because the pump doesn't work -- it's just not getting power. When I restart the comp, it's fine.

What do you all think? I remember I thought it was a mobo or psu problem, but I had this problem before I changed out my psu and mobo (and pump for that matter) so those are eliminated as problem areas. Does this mean it's software based? I've been out of the loop for almost a year now (as you can see from setup in sig) and I'm not as sharp with problems as i used to be. I could really use your help.

What do you guys think?

sounds like it has something to do with your pump shutting down when you go into sleep mode or whatever. i'd check the manufacturer's site and inquire about OS compatibility.

I'm thinking the 12v rail is shutting down and turning off your pump. I'm guessing that would be normal for stand by mode ?

edit: reread the q you mean after coming out of stand-by the pump never starts up again ?

Yeah K-dog, that's what I meant. Sorry if I was unclear.

I'll check it out, Craig. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hibernation is probably better overall since it actually turns off the computer (saving everything).

Lahdoz loves playing with their D-key!
If it has ANY connections to the mobo, I'd check for BIOS upgrades. It sounds like one of those odd issues that are usually fixed this way.

There is probably a connector (CPU fan) so the mobo doesn't think that there isn't a CPU fan connected, and for some reason the mobo isn't sending the signal for the fan/pump to kick back in after standby. Textbook quirky BIOS issue.
