Nbtoast, you gotta keep us updated with details.... where exactly are you planning on mounting the 40 mm fan, is that just gonna be a nb cooler?
If you dont have primary case fans, this xigmatek 120mm probably will fit your needs Newegg.com - XIGMATEK XLF-F1253 120mm 4 white LED LED Case Fan - Case Fans
The fan itself is orange and the white led's illuminate it... it isnt orange light in itself, but you get the idea | I was planning on using the 40mm to cool the HDD's, but I might get another to cool the nb now that you mention it. I think ill get the one you pointed out and use it as exhaust.
BTW, im going to be getting a new mobo, cpu and HSF because the ones in the pics probably wont work after im done with this project.
Ill have to post some pics of the actual workspace tomorrow. Also have to run to the hardware store and get some more Aluminum angle. Ill probably start experimenting with paint sometime soon. And ill probably finish the frame tomorrow. <---kinda typing my thoughts there...

| | Well all my mobo's coolers for nb and sb are passive, and theres so much airflow going thru my case I didnt see the need in mounting a small, most likely loud fan.
Youre going to be wanting a 25 or 30mm fan to use on the northbridge, but there is no knowing how difficult its going to be.
if you are just worried about coolant tho, often the heatsinks themselves are too efficient for the crappy paste put on by the mobo manuf. , buddhists thread about putting aftermarket cooling compound on is great advice

: 62 nd | | | Sorry for the lack of updates, I did work on it, but its not worth posting.
I ran to the hardware store looking for some more Aluminum Angle, but they only had one 3ft rod of it, so i bought it and cut 2 cross sections for the top of the frame.

| | metal at the hardware store is like buying gold from Tiffanys. Although, metal in general is expensive these days. If you need angle or any other type, your best price will come from a metal supply yard. I realize those aren't near everyone, but an absolutely excellent business supply store is available online here McMaster-Carr
They have thousands of pages of stuff you can buy in bulk or in cut packages. Their shipping is pretty fast, too, but again, rounds and rods that come in tubes aren't as cheap as boxed items.
just type aluminum angle into the search on the left.

I actually did something substantial enough to post it!!! What I did was cut a piece of aluminum sheet, and cut some aluminum angle to fit the I/O and PCI slots.
Here is the mobo panel laid in the base of the frame. http://img361.imageshack.us/img361/2081/1001786ya6.jpg
Heres the mobo and the HDD mount(<--im second guessing the HDD mount design) http://www.straferight.com/photopost...m/100_1787.JPG
Another shot of the mobo and the HDD mount with cut out I/O and PCI card slots. http://www.straferight.com/photopost...m/100_1791.JPG
Just another shot of the cuts for the I/O and PCI slots. http://www.straferight.com/photopost...m/100_1792.JPG
None of it is secure in place yet, i want to get everything cut out, make sure it all fits before i do any of it. Im going to use rivets to hold everything in place, I was going to have my dad weld everything together, but he said that there was a chance of warping the aluminum.
