| | | SteelSeries S&S Mouse Pad So I'm in the process of upgrading. Just ordered the new laptop, got new headphones, mic, and a Razer Deathadder. While I'm extremely happy with the mouse, I'm not happy with the surface I'm using. A while back I picked up a cheap Allsop from Circuit City, and it worked for the most part. But now it has a few slick spots where it's worn, which kills any glide and makes gaming and general use with the new mouse a bit inprecise. Plus I'm noticing a "bubble" spot where the plastic surface is coming unglued. Bottomline: cheap, garbage, should've got something nice in the first place.
So I'm looking at the SteelSeries S&S. I like the fact that it's cheaper than other SteelSeries pads, and not overly large. Does anyone have experience with this pad in particular? Any recommendations?

| | | I know that burt and I (and trip too?) all swear by the steelseries 5L pad...it's a little larger and can be more expensive (depending on which version you get)...it's marketed as a hybrid between the traditional soft (cloth/foam) and hard (plastic/glass) pads...
sorry that I don't have any experience with the S&S, but in general I'd trust steelseries on any of their pads...

| | | I'd recommend the exactmat from Razer, but the steelseries are awesome too.

| | Coffee, how thick is that mousepad?
I've sworn by my laminated wax paper mousepad for months, but now I think it may be time to move to a real pad. I was actually looking at the discounted steelseries 5L joe mentioned, 8 dollars off on the egg steel ..... but i like the pad to be as thin as possible.
5L does have more surface area than exactmat tho....

| | | the exactmat is pretty thin, just a solid piece of ... metal/plastic, but i think it has standoffs. sorry, not with me right now, at work.

| | My friend has the SteelSeries S&S. It's huuuuuge! He said its pretty good though. Personally I don't really care about mousepads, I've been using this like $2 one from CompUSA for quite a while.

| | | I've looked at the 5L, but it's just too big. I only have so much desk space.
The S&S seems pretty thin, it's a good size, a little smaller than the exactmat, and I like the simplicity of it. Normal shape, black with a small logo.
EDIT: Woah, that's the S&S? According to newegg, it should only be about 12x10...

| | | I'm not entirely sure but it looks a lot like it. I think it might be since i just measured my Eclipse II and it's about 6.5 inches tall and put one on top of the other fits around 12. And mice are around 2.5 inches wide so put around 5 of them side by side so yeah I think that might be the S&S
