A) The HP Brand Ink isn't bullshit... Other brands of ink cartridges are simply not of the same quality and can cause issues such as:
- Excessive Bleeding
- Cause the Service Station to fill and overflow quickly
- Cause issues with the heads
- Can leak and damage the paper jam sensor on some models
- etc
B) I recommend HP Paper as well because:
- The paper seams to be of higher quality
- Other paper tends to cause the rollers to dry out quicker
- Other paper tends to leave behind significant amounts of paper fiber which can cause many issues
- Other paper tends to cause more paper jams
- etc
Note 1: A & B are simply my observations after over 12 years of working with and around probably more than 100 different HP Printer models...
Note 2: I still have the same HP Printer as I did about 10 years ago, until about 6 months ago I had only used HP Ink & Paper...
Well, the ink for this printer has been discontinued... I knew the risks involved in using non-HP ink, but I had no choice but to use another brand of ink for the printer... I have been having serious issues with it sense & have had to rebuild it twice in the last 4 months...
Anyways, Back to your issue...
- Did your OS change?
- Did you try using the driver cleaner?
- Have you tried unplugging the printer, uninstalling all HP software/drivers, and restart, then plug the printer back in?
- Are you using any of HP's Photo________ software?
- Does the printer have an OSD that you can use to clean/align the print heads?
