VGA Fan
Hey guys, is there a video card fan / cooling system that is sub $20 and wont void my warrenty by requiring the removal of the heatsink? My car is running hotter than i like, so i was looking for a solution but it seems like most of the people that buy 4850's use Zalman VF1000's. But this voids the warrenty and is $50! thanks for your time, again!

PS Why's no one in the tf2 server!?

what company makes your card? saphire, msi, his, etc? they all have different warranties concerning coolers.

there are loads of after market radiators out there, just find the one for your ride and...just kidding

I've never really shopped for GPU coolers, but in my experience, check out Arctic Cooling, Zalman, and Thermaltake stuff. They tend to get good reviews.

EDIT: On what coffee was recommending, some cases have a place for a expansion slot fan, usually uses a standard 4-pin connector depending on the fan. I use one on my 7900gs and it stays pretty cool w/ the stock fan/heatsink. Might save some money tht way

nah, just a fan mounted on the side of the case, inside, where it can blow on the whole card. just like any fan in the case.

sometimes people carve a hole in the side of the case, mount a fan there, blow the hot air out, or the cool air in.

Yeah like the others said the warantee depends on the manufacturer, I couldnt see sapphire actually having a leniant warranty after some of their other shady business practices.... but you may have a difficult time finding a cooler for under 20 bucks.

I have heard good things about Xigmateks battle Axe cooler, and most people claim a greater than 20 degree drop in load temps (coffee plz no dropping load jokes)

They had a rebate on them a few weeks back, if it returns you may be able to get out for just over 20 bucks.

A friend of mine wanted a pair of these due to his 8800 sli setup running so hot, but the coolers themselves take up 2 slots apiece, and having 8 slots simply for your VGA setup is a bit much

Since you were hesitant before to spend the extra money getting a 4000 series card, Id really just try to improve case flow before you go blowing extra money on card coolers

hey guys. msging from my mums laptop, been searching around for cooling and i found this CCC hack on google.

looks like you CAN increase fan speed, so i was just going to run it by you guys, see if looks legit before i do it tommorow when i get bcak into town, man these laptops are hard to type on!
