zomg vista install problems

ok so im trying to install vista ultimate. as if it doesnt have enough problems with it, i can't even get the damn thing to install. i only have an upgrade dvd so its non-bootable. i put the disk in, and i get mad errors saying that "spwizeng.dll is not a valid windows image" and that the autorun is corrupt and all that. I tried it in multiple xp machines and same thing for all of them. so IRKED!

anybody know whats wrong? i tried looking around on the net but the only people that seem to have those problems are the ones that downloaded the ISO from the internet. I have the actual dvd.

The upgrade dvd should be bootable. Mine is. I have the 64 bit and the 32 bit dvd however I have only tried the 64 as the 32 is of no use to me (4 gigs of memory). Did you purchase the retail copy of the upgrade version? If so did you get it from a good place like bestbuy (not saying bestbuy is good but I mean it in a sense that best buy more then likely will not sell pirated copies and such). Does the disc have any scratches? have you tried both versions (32 and 64)? Also what are your pc specs...as that may be helpful.

its only a 32 bit version, its an official copy that i bought through my school. from what i've been researching and due to the fact that the disc makes my drive go nuts i think it might be the disk. and i tried it it is bootable but i just think my drive isn't digging this disk.

i tried it on three other xp machines too all the same thing. im so irked ive been waiting for this for like 2 weeks haha

If it's a retail copy you get a month or so of support methinks. Correct me if I'm wrong.

No it does not. If it does the same thing on several machines I would tend to think its the disk.

And BY the way you can install the upgrade as a fresh install in a DEMO mode and then use the Upgrade to upgrade the demo mode.. Its kind of cool and saves a few bucks buying the upgrade sted of the full version but still allows a full install on a fresh system.
