New Wireless Router

Setting up a Home network to share internet connection....

The wireless adapter I have is just G for the one machine, so I dont really need an N router. If it has n draft thats fine too, but I do need it to go about 50 feet and thru 3 walls, think I can escape this for under 100 bucks?

The 2nd machine is going to be a wired connection, so thats all good.... my wireless usb adapter is a netgear rangemax thing, don't really care if the router is the same brand, but what would be the best thing for my money?

ps its not for sharing my own terrible internet connection, its for someone else

i was amazed at how much of an upgrade going N was for me. its much more powerful than G for cracking through walls and ceilings. but they're not usually found under $100 so I dunno what to tell you.

Well I mean idc if the router is N compatible, cuz then Ill just pick up a new adapter that can use N if the G isnt penetrating the walls.... I was just saying my current usb adapter does not support it

mmmmm more than likely no.

Im just obsessive compulsive about having room for expansion, but actually the desktop computer currently residing there doesnt even have gigabit ethernet.

This should be fine

i would say it just depends on the home system setup.

if you have multiple desktops on the LAN, maybe go for a gigabit connection.

but if most systems are wireless, money is better off going to n-adapters.
