| | | you may need to wait a little. when i first got the 3870x2 i had to wait almost 2 months for the frame rates to increase... i get about 200 fps now at 1080p

But yeah, Source is a CPU dependent game.
Go with Intel (and Nvidia )

: 64 th | | | okay, so you're saying back when stema came out, there was no way to run these games? ffs, 90% of the world if not more were still running p4s when steam came out, so this CPU dependant bullshit is.. bullshit.
so i reformated the computer (was planning on doing it anyways, had alot, alot of trash to get rid of)
installed only my NIC, video card, and updated chipset drivers, and of course, TF2. im still getting 20-60 fps. there is no way that this should be normal for this computer, absolutely no way, do you think i should try chucking my card back to sapphire and get a new one?
or does anyone have any other suggestions? what if i tried OC'ing my CPU?

| | | Don't know what to tell you... I'm running just a basic 8800gt but with a Core2Quad and I'm getting ~240fps.
And of course we ran these games when Steam came out. We weren't running ridiculously high resolutions and yes, the CPUs would lag the frame rates. Are you certain you have all extra processes in the background stopped? If you have some media player running along with a web browser, I can assure you it's effecting your frame rate numbers.

| | | get a new CPU or just deal. I play with low settings and its just fine. I even play TF2 and CSS on a P4, and so does my dad....he gets upset when he doesn't kill you quick enough. | | |
