| | So my new computer is having problems... I got all my stuff together, Asus m3n78-vm board, 2x1gb adata ddr2 800, 320gb seagate 7200rpm, BE-2400 X2 OCd to 2.5, Antec truepower2 430watt, HD3850...loaded XP in record time for me, loaded everything fine so far, ran 3Dmark01 got a ~32000, BUT for some reason i cannot run 3Dmark03,05,06 or PCmark05....all of them hang on the splash load screen....
any thoughts/ideas?

| | Well something that jumped out at me was that depending on the 12V amps on your power supply, 430 watts may be a tad low, for the power reqs.
Now I know that the 450 watt recommendation by ATi is just to cover their asses, and that the 2400 is probably pulling less power than some other cpu's might, but still, could be a concern.
Like the others said update your video card drivers, but Ive never paid that much attention to benchmarking software, if your games play at an acceptable quality to you, thats what counts

| | | check your powersupply although I would guess if that was the problem it would crash your computer by trying to draw to much power so I don't think that's it. (Although if you have problems with crashing I would look at that first) I'd say check your video card drivers and don't install catalyst control panel. It's buggy as hell at least on vista...it used to cause a bunch of problems for me.

| | | power supply is fine, it has run my FX-55 system with sli 7900gts before, it has 2 17a 12v lines, not my power suplly cause this system draws about half of that old system....have newest 8.8 ati catalyst drivers so im going to try to go back to 8.7....i thought about DX problems and got the newest updates right from microsoft, so im hoping the driviers work...thanks for the ideas

| | | tried 8.7 still hangs...even PCmark05 hangs and its not all graphics like 3dmarks are....but for some reason 3dmark01 works fine...
