Vista runs great for me and I only have 2 GB of RAM, Windows 7 should run even better.

Allegedly, Windows 7 runs on a 1gb-ram based 'netbook', so no.

Now, that's probably without the "Aero" type effects, but having stripped Windows of extraneous programs, it does have a much smaller footprint than Vista.

Doesn't Vista already have that with the saved search folders? I don't really know, because I don't use it, but I thought it was already there. I guess Libraries is just a further developed version of that concept.

It's just frustrating because Vista on another computer is slow as watching grass grow and that computer has better everything than my XP machine yet mine is so much faster. As well as all the machines in my University are slow as watching union workers finish a building since they switched to Vista.

did you really just ask if Bo has his cwp?

he shot his name into the application form from 1000 yards... while on a Segway... One handed with his USP in .45ACP... While doing pushups AND eating his sandwich...

I would say you're mostly correct, in that it is a better-implemented style of interface and query than in Vista. I don't know if they changed the actual file query behind it.

I actually run Vista on a 1gb laptop right now, full Aero with an x700 gpu. It's very smooth, though I wouldn't game on it without 2gb.

It's all in how you set it up.

I'm Allegedly running Vista on the laptop in my sig. Not as fast as say Windows 98 would run, but enough for running Visual Studio 2008.

As for 7 there will be plenty of new features, including the new taskbar. You have to remember this is at the end of the Alpha stage. All the new features will be implemented in the Beta/RC stage. That is if they don't scrap everything and start over (a la the Longhorn alphas).

well, the Longhorn alphas were AWFUL. They've been running the M3 build of Windows 7 in public terminals at PDC, and evidently it's doing fine, that's why I think that, in reality, M3 is basically a beta, without a couple of the features they showed off at PDC.

I read an article that it will only take 1GB to run, don't have a link, but it was a credible website
