Widescreen shows "fat" game screens?

Oops, I was researching the forums and just noticed one thing:

- Is it true that, if I buy a widescreen noteb, the screen will 'stretch' the vision in games, for example? I mean, my Counter-Strike (just an example) screen will be 'fat' or something like that? I was thinking that it would be like a 'inverse' thing of what we see watching a 16:9 DVD on a 4:3. I was thinking that the image would stay on the center of my nb screen, with black bars on the sides...

- About the Mitac 8050, is it solid? (good build quality). Does the keyb flexes when you type or so? (I've just read it somewhere, but I don't believe, and just checking).

Thanks, David.

can't you change the resolution to "standard screen" and play it like that so it wont stretch?

I don't have a widescreen notebook... I'm planning to buy one.

I don't know what you're talking about. Is there any way to 'say' the notebook to display non-natural resolutions without stretching? I mean, displaying it smaller than the screen?

I've tried this on my widescreen lappy:
Control Panel >> Display >> Settings
then alter the Screen Resolution to match 4:3 format
=
Black bars on the side

so..black bars vs. stretched games.
I pick black bars.

Also, some games support widescreen format so you won't even need to stretch/use black bars

So far, all the games that i have played on my Asus 15.4" M6BNe are fine. The standard resolution while playing games is 1024 X 768 and no, the graphics do not appear to be "fat." Everything looks great to me!

Doom 3 wasn't stretched in the slightest for me. Also, UT004 looks incredible. You get an advantage cause you get to see more on the on the sides.

Yes, Rahulk, I know some games have a wonderful look _when_ they support widescreen.

So, it's fine. And about the Mitac keyb Toruney, is it solid, does it flex when you type?

Another thing: I was searching this forum and I saw two member that bought the Mitac and their HD stopped working. If I'm not wrong, one of them sold his notebook. Is this a possible flaw or was it caused by irresponsibility (extreme overclock/heat)?
