The best mobile mouse

When I get my 5680, I'm planning on buying a wired optical mouse with it. However, I want a good gaming mouse, and not just some $10 Wal-Mart special.

I've given a look at MS Intellimouse and Logitech mx500. I've considered Boomslangs, but I don't have that kind of money to spend.

Newegg.com has an mx500 for $46, minus a $10 rebate, making it $36 including shipping.

I use an MX500 since it came out on my 5620 and I game frequently. What I like most about this one is how it fits smoothly in my hand. The Xplorer is a bit more bulky which I used before this one came out. There is no chance you will be able to distort the MX500 by swinging it over your desk.

However, Logitech Mouseware discontinued game support with the release of version 9.77 or something. So either just install the drivers and not mouseware or stick with 9.73 (I do that).

Also, you will not be able to use ALL the buttons in the game. I use all but 2 on it because I personally did not find reliable keys to bind them too.

Intellipoint, the software with MS mice, is far superior since it lets you bind different keys depending on which program you use. That is damn great! Furthermore all buttons on that one work in game (Xplorer (get the latest version (3.0)).

Still, I can survive with mouseware , and the MX500 is a very nice mouse with smooth control precision which is what you need in games. (use PS/2 port since you can oc that to 200hz instead of usb (125?hz)

Edit: Ack! I was just surfing logitech and check their latest drivers and VOILA: Advanced Gamer utility? o_O

Alright. Good information!

Are there any other mice that are really good for gaming?

I have listed:
*Intellimouse
*MX500
*Boomslang

Gyration mouse

I love my Gyration cordless mouse and keyboard. No extra keys on the mouse but you can use it in the air as well as on the desktop-- its a combination optical and gyroscopic device. Also has faster update rate than MS or Logitech cordless. Keyboard is available in compact or full size. See it at Office Depot, Best Buy, etc.

Might not be great for gaming but i have the Kensington Wireless mouse. Very smooth with a scroll wheel and the best part is that the wirelessreceiver stores INSIDE the mouse, i love it!

I remember Gyrations. Really, that's one of the more ideal wireless mice, however in my environment I need everything attached and wired. Wireless mice at LAN parties are not very acceptable due to so much interference.

I'm leaning toward the mx500, I've found it for like $25.

Yea i would go for the MX500, I have it and it's a great mouse. VERY smooth but mouseware did have issues for games but with some work, you can most likley fix them.
