The guys over at [H]ardOCP got their hands on some exclusive pictures and specifications of the Nvidia 9800GX2 series gpu.

NVIDIA's yet-to-be released GeForce 9800 GX2 in the "flesh." We reveal some of the specs and what should be expected.

The best way to think of the GeForce 9800 GX2 card is as an 8800 GPU that has been die shrunk to 65nm and placed in an SLI configuration in a "single" card. The 9800 GX2 is very reminiscent of 7950 GX2 of days past. (And we loved the 7950 GX2 at launch, but terrible support and diminishing returns soon painted it as one of NVIDIA’s biggest failures since the 5800 series.)

The GeForce 9800 GX2 will launch in late February or early March as it now stands and will replace the 8800 Ultra (single GPU) card in NVIDIA's high-end product line up. The 9800 GX2 is said to be 30% faster than a 8800 Ultra. While it is not clear from the pictures below, we are told it will support "Quad SLI."

1. 1GB Frame Buffer
2. Two PCBs
3. Two 65nm GPUs Total
4. 256 Stream Processors Total

While not the greatest pictures. It does look like the cooler is a whole lot longer than the PCB. Which would not fit in most peoples cases at all...

Hmmm...not the uber-card I was hoping for. Its just a rehashed G2 setup. I mean I'll take one please but I probably won't cough up the cash for this.

This isn't even a new card, really.

damn I was expecting this to be some crazy high-end sh!t, it's seems that's not the case. Dope was right after all. If it's 30% faster than an 8800 Ultra then that means it gunna be much more expensive also. I'm not coughing up the cash for this just yet, especially since that doesn't look like it'll even fit in my case. Sh!t, my 8800 GT only has about an inch of space from the end of the card and what's installed on the front of my computer (card reader? dunno what it is, some vaio crap). I'll wait at least till i build a new rig, maybe even put in dual 8800GT's or something.
