Blu-rays are dropping, too. It's common to see them on sale (decent titles, too) in the $10-$15 range. I think this will be the year for Blu-ray. Depending on economic factors, of course. At this point, there's really no excuse not to have some kind of HD flat screen in the house. Hell, even a 32" 1080p beats the crap out of a 32" SD picture tube from hell set. The massive increase in clarity more than offsets the shorter screen.

If you're any kind of gamer, I'd go for the PS3... ya never know when some title will catch your eye, and with the bluetooth remote, it's just as viable as any other stand alone component.

A deck or a PC drive are fine if that fits your needs...

But I think we're at or near the peak for the Wii. It will remain popular, but I'm sure the X360 and PS3 will both pull away from it in sales from here on out.

dont bet on that completely. development time for games is a few years and we're coming up on the third birthday of the Wii. watch for some great titles this fall when the new, more accurate remote hits.

i do agree that the PS3 should see good sales as BluRay becomes more common.

Wii's are extremely overrated...They're not even worth $249 now....

I disagree... they outsold supply meaning they could probably have sold for $300. Now, I think $250 is a realistic number for what it is. A 480p console with a gimmicky controller. It will remain popular, but the honeymoon will soon be over. They'll need really great titles to compete with the PS3 and X360 that unquestionably bitch slap the Wii in graphics and CPU power.

All they have to do is come up with another Wii Fit or similar thing, hardware+game, sell a few million games and another million Wiis.

Each console has plenty of users, all will stick around.

    Oh shi...

How about this... A Wii thingie that lets you participate in those "so bad they're great" badly dubbed Chinese kung foo movies?

    More like this:
SUN DRAGON AKA A HARD WAY TO DIE (DVD)
"Dey keeled mah mutha, dey keeled mah fatha. Now I'm neva gunna get muah reveeeenge!"
"...I will teach you... kung foo"

Imagine using the controllers to immerse yourself in that kind of awful cinematic craptacularness.

    sounds pretty epic.

The Wii seemed to carve it's own niche in the market, non-gamers. The controls are fairly simple, most parents know it will be kid safe, old people play it in nursing homes. There are a lot of things the Wii offers. I equate it to the solitaire/bejeweled of consoles. While the PS3 and 360 are for more serious gamers.

Also, the Wii doesn't have a number in it.
