    Asus vs. Dell Laptop

i am buying a new lappy, trying to decide between asus and dell. considering all specs are the same (same cpu, ram, graphics, etc), which would you buy? i am worried about overall construction quality really. i've heard horror stories from both, and have purchased from both, but can't decide what to go with now.

if you are interested, i am looking at getting this asus or this dell:
    Asus G53Jw
    Dell XPS 15

The Dell has 6GB RAM (asus has 4GB), the dell has 750GB HD (asus as 500gb), however the asus has the nvidia GTX 460M while the dell only has gt 435m. dell also has 9cell batt while asus has only 8cell. dell is $50 cheaper, but it wont ship until feb 14th (argh) and i need a lappy like right now

    thoughts?

Asus, never liked prebuilt Dell systems, only liked their monitors. Haven't heard any horror stories about Asus lappy's, worked on a couple and liked em. I personally wouldn't gripe on the hard drive difference.

Asus looks like it has mad cooling, which is always a primary concern with gaming laptops.

asus - coming from a dell laptop and pre-built desktop user for years. finally did a custom build and i'll never buy a pre-built desktop ever again, especially not from Dell. i've always heard good things about Asus too, so i wouldnt sweat the small differences, it seems to be the better deal.

    Intel i7 920 2.67Ghz - GeForce GTX 670 - ASUS Sabertooth X58 Mobo - CORSAIR DDR3 6GB RAM - Antec 900 Case - Antec EarthWatts EA750 750W PS - Razer Mamba/Anasi

Where are you buying them from?

Asus laptops from Newegg have a 2 year parts and labor warranty AND a 1 year accidental damage warranty in the cost already.

Add that to the Dell and watch the price soar.

nice - always liked Dell's support (i can get it... sometimes a real hassle) but it really does look like the asus is the way to go. I've seen the little netbook ones and they're kinda neat looking.

Asus looks nice. Let us know. I REALLY like Dell for business devices (desktop, Latitudes, etc) - but not so much for personal devices like the Inspiron or Studio series. And I agree with Fuzzy. Dell will eventually make it right with support problems on just about anything except OOW batteries.

I wanted a dell for my work laptop but couldn't get the ok for the significant price hike. I mean they do it right - special bios, special binning of GPUs to make sure they can run 24/7 and not burn out or lock up, etc etc. My Toshiba is more like a home unit, and it BSODs, fails to boot sometimes... that kind of stuff. yuck
