Heh, my A500 is 13.3... 9.3mm is crazy-thin. That's thin for a lot of phones.

    translations:

    "HD" on WinRT tablet: 780p
"Full HD" on Intel tablet: 1080p

"competitive pricing": $500+ for WinRT, $800+ for Intel

That includes price. You cost as much as an iPad3, you better give a LOT of reasons your product is the better choice.

Tech geeks like us might see them, but the buying public? Their media blitz better be top notch.

    Re: Microsoft Surface Tablet

I think the real problem is that the general public will see Windows 8 and think that means full Windows, not realizing that Win8/RT is just the touch part and doesn't include the desktop.

    Re: Microsoft Surface Tablet

I think a $250 WinRT tablet would be pretty sweet, @ $500 meh.

Hands On With Microsoft Surface for Windows RT

Microsoft's event today was long on promise and short on specs. RAM? We dunno. Processor speed? We dunno. Price? We dunno. Release date? We dunno. But even a very brief hands-on made something abundantly clear: It's a super solid device and if Microsoft can deliver what it demoed, the iPad finally has a real competitor and Android has a big goddamn problem.
    Whoa slow down Giz.

And Windows Mobile Power User has this.

Surface for Windows RT – This device will be available when Windows RT gets RTM. That means we could expect the device by September. The device will cost comparable to the other ARM based Windows tablets on the market. My guess is $499.

    OS: Windows RT
    Light(1): 676 g
    Thin(2): 9.3 mm
    Clear: 10.6” ClearType HD Display
    Energized: 31.5 W-h
Connected: microSD, USB 2.0, Micro HD Video, 22 MIMO antennae
Productive: Office ‘15’ Apps, Touch Cover, Type Cover
    Practical: VaporMg Case & Stand
    Configurable: 32 GB, 64 GB

Surface for Windows 8 Pro – This device will be available after 3 months from Windows 8 RTM. So we can expect it by November- December time frame. And the device will cost similar to the Ultrabooks/Intel based tablets in the market. My guess is $699.

    OS: Windows 8 Pro
    Light(1): 903 g
    Thin(2): 13.5 mm
Clear: 10.6” ClearType Full HD Display
    Energized: 42 W-h
Connected: microSDXC, USB 3.0, Mini DisplayPort Video, 22 MIMO antennae
Productive: Touch Cover, Type Cover, Pen with Palm Block
    Practical: VaporMg Case & Stand
    Configurable: 64 GB, 128 GB
