| | | Acronis Disk Director (I think we are on v10 right now) is by far the best partitioning product I have ever owned... It goes for about $50 retail, you can probably pick it up for about $30 from newegg as a downloadable program... A friend of mine recently got Acronis Disk Director & Acronis TrueImage as a combo package from newegg for about $35 i think...

| | | I'm a nub, I just use what Windows gives you to partition during install or with disk management tools via start menu. Unless you're talking about advanced partitioning (if that exists?).

| | | Dude, Vista does all that. Search for "Computer Management" in the menu. Then click on that and go to "Disk Management". It's all there. |

| | | I use the MMC disk management plugin for most of the stuff. For everything else I use Acronis Disk Director Suite.
And, Vista is destructive to partition maps depending on whether you use GPT or MBR. If you do anything to a GPT drive in disk management, Vista will overwrite it with a MBR and completely destroy it... even if you just change the drive letter only.
