    My initial impressions.

Cleaner interface than Vista with some more common sense "duh" buttons. I really like the way the new "tray" works; much more intuitive. Pulling a window away from the top makes sense and I used it a lot so far.

Feels faster , don't have benchmarks to back it up. It could very well be from a fresh install and nothing else. All my normal software runs without a hitch.

WRT drivers, it hasn't dissapointed. Vista main flaw when it first released was manufacturers weren't on-board with drivers. Even the big ones like nVidia and ATI where slow to get stable ones out the door. Not so with Win7, I currently have a few drivers like the ATI one for my video card. Games run smooth.

One glitch I found however was with VLC and DVD's were I get a few green artifacts . This goes away when I stop and start the movie. Even my 3ware 9650se card was updated automagically when I booted up with the windows update. Impressive so far.

Don't suppose there is an "Easy Upgrade" from build 7000?

Time to start backing up my Windows 7 drive...

slow, crashes, incompatible with hardware, hyped to be the best OS of all time, ect.

    Vista blows, and that's why.

Anyway, I really hope Win7 is as good as it seems it could be. As much as I love OS X, it is still not a gaming platform.

I wish. Got the RC but don't feel like backing up and installing right now.

Too bad that argument was the same for when XP first came out, when OS X 10.0 came out... and probably even when 10.6 comes out (and wipes PPC support).

For some reason, some piece of hardware (or hardware configuration) is screwing up my install of 7-RC, probably time to reset the BIOS config back to optimized defaults and starting over.

Vista runs fine for me and everyone else I know using it. What we have in common is we a) were not upgraders from XP, and b) we were not early users. It's very popular to trash Vista, but in fact, it's great for most of us using it. If not for the trend of saying it sucks, I'm sure Win7 would be either a service pack for Vista or Vista SE (like Win98). Unless there's some very compelling reasons like gaming performance or much needed new features, I'm not sure I'll upgrade.

I was an early adopter on Vista, first beta, when it DID suck.

It just doesn't anymore, but people keep repeating it.

It's almost like they don't use it, but they think their opinion counts anyway.
