OnOne Software has released an application for iPhone and iTouchs that can control your camera. Simply connect your Canon EOS or Nikon DSLR camera to your notebook or tower via a USB cable and then control the camera with your iPhone. Remotely. From wherever. And beyond simply pressing the button and activating the shutter, you can have a live view on the phone of how the shot will look. You can make adjustments to the aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc. You can even activate the auto-focus.

There's also added features that are really amazing

What advantage does it give you over using the functions on the camera in the first place? larger LCD screen?

the best thing that will do is allow you to snap pictures upon demand without physically touching the camera. That's critical for taking sharp pictures in many situations

Sure that's advantageous, but you can get a remote or a plug-in thing as well. This also means I have to lug around my laptop, because the camera has to be connected to it for it to work.

OK, let me explain this again. Camera connects to computer via USB. Computer runs server software that allows iThing to connect to camera from anywhere. Across the room or across the country.

Using iThing, you have full access to the camera's controls, including LiveView. This allows you to see what the picture will look like before the picture is taken.

This is remote control software that has many many additional aspects.

Or you could click the link and read about it like I did.
