iPod Touch Problems...

Ive had iPod's for a while now, and i haven't really run across a problem with them that i can't handle, till now that is. I recently shipped all my computer components to arizona for college, rebuilt it in a new case yesterday, and then today, went to attach my iPod Touch to update it with the new music ive purchased, but iTunes won't reconize it. Here's where im at so far...
*iPods fine, plays music and has a charge
*Computer reads it and asks how to open it, but nothing happens in itunes
*Ive tried different usb ports and a different cable, but no different outcomes
*Tried my Nano, and it works fine and opens in itunes like normal
*Restarted the computer and also reinstalled itunes
*Went through the stupid and pointless tutorial on troubleshooting from apple and got nowhere

try holding the power button AND home button down for at least 10 seconds, (you maybe have to let go of the power button still holding the home button at about 5-6 seconds, i cant quite rememeber) this will send it into recovery mode, then any itunes should recognize the ipod and recover it.
