Games I Would Love to See on the iPhone or iPod Touch

Since the launch of the Apple App Store, there have been a few classic games that I thought would be excellent candidates for an adaptation to the iPhone/iPod Touch platform. One of the first that came to mind was Scorched Earth, but that want has been satisfied by iShoot.

So, what other games would I like to see updated for current technology? Right now Stunts (also known as 4D Sports Driving) is at the top of my list. Like Scorched Earth, Stunts was a DOS game released at the start of the 1990s, and both games still have dedicated followings. I can't even begin to count the number of hours I spent racing and creating tracks, and after viewing a few youtube videos (see below), I'm positive that the game would be excellent on a device such as the iPhone (for a review of Stunts, click here).

So, what games would you like to see gain a new life via the iPhone, or any other current gaming platform?

Streets of Rage 2, with multiplayer support (I know its on XBL Arcade).

I'm DYING for anything Lucas Arts old-school.

My heaven would be Diablo 2.

What the iPhone 3Gs is capable of is amazing. You should see it vs the 3G or (especially) the 2G version. It owns their faces and I hope developers code more towards the strengths of the 3Gs instead of to the weaknesses of the legacy phones.

A phone version of Zelda 2 should be easily doable.

Well ScummVM for the iphone should satisfy the LucasArts requirement.

I gotta jailbreak my touch so i can install stuff w/o app store. I refuse to give apple my credit card number on principle so i can't even install free apps.

Hmm... you know, I've been thinking about the new MacBook and right now you get a free iTouch for buying one. I was thinking of using the iTouch to jailbreak and hack up a bit to see what kind of fun I could have with it.

That ScummVM is a great idea!
