    Googola?

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- In a surprise deal, Google has agreed to buy Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion, two companies said Monday.

Thoughts? Is google spreading themselves to thin and instead of being great at a few things becoming mediocre at alot of things?

Smart move. This puts a shit-ton of patents in their mitts. AND, it gives them a large manufacturing arm.

Exactly... It really gives them options, gives them the power to be as creative as they want while maintaining a really high level of QC.

It sounds as if Google's had a really busy year with Google+, renaming things, piloting their adword credit card and shutting things down like GoogleLabs. I'm maybe more aware of their news stories, but Google sounds like they are a lot more focused on a direction now.

Actually Motorola made some nice cable boxes back in the day. Their IP couldn't hurt Google's TV offering.

Now lets get down to brass tacks, Google is buying Motorola to get rid of MotoBLUR once and for all..

The unfortunate side is Motorola has put out as many crappy phones as they have good ones of late.

this is far more than IP. this is iGoogle. You will still have Android phones on all carriers, but Google will put out real Googlephones with the promise of stability like the iPhone, and control hardware/software.

Just remember- this is Motorola Mobility, not all of Motorola. They split off their wireless branch a while back and that's all this is.
